Knights Knation Baseball is excited to announce the creation of “Knights in Action,” which will serve as the hub for all community service projects program wide. Famcore Foundation, Inc, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has sponsored “Knights in Action” and its community service projects. The two entities forged a formal operating agreement this fall in anticipation of the Knights’ second annual Christmas food drive.
“We are extremely proud to announce Knights in Action,” said owner Jack Cressend. “Our program’s mission is and always will be to teach our players more than just baseball. We regularly talk to our players about working hard in everything they do – to strive to have an impact on all they do. What better way to have an impact than by performing community service?” Cressend added, “last year’s Christmas food drive was a tremendous success. We wanted to formalize our community service commitment and provide the infrastructure across the entire program so we could do more.”
The Knights decision to forge a partnership with an already established, registered 501(c)(3) like Famcore Foundation was a very easy decision. FormerKnights player and current Knights coach, Stephen Sepcich, is a founding member of Famcore and was instrumental in leading the Knights inaugural Christmas food drive last year. Cressend stated, “Stephen has a passion for service and partnering with his group was a no-brainer for us.”
Famcore Foundation was created as a result of a group of high school students who in 2015 wanted to make a difference in their community. Together they organized an annual holiday meal drive, Hams For Fams, which operates in New Orleans. After feeding hundreds of families for multiple years, the board decided to expand. The Famcore Foundation was founded in 2018 to help begin charitable projects in cities across the United States. The goal of Famcore is to create drives that further a sense of community for a specific area while delivering aid to low-income families.
The Knights’ mission is to provide its players with all the necessary resources to fully develop not only as baseball players but also as young men. Player development is the organization’s central focus to guide players to become the best version of themselves.
Donations to Knights in Action will soon be made available through the Knights Knation website, through the Famcore Foundation website, and can be made now by emailing laknights4life@aol.com.
