Coach Fontenot graduated from East Ascension High School in 1997 before playing collegiately for at University of New Orleans. He spent 1 year as assistant coach for Dutchtown HS & 5 years at East Ascension HS. In 2018 he began coaching at Parkview Baptist in Baton Rouge where he has coached since. In the 2022 summer Coach Fontentot helped with Gonzales Based Gauthier & Amedee (American Legion) as assistant while also coaching in the Knights Knation Baton Rouge youth program.
